Wait, is naturalness a word? Naturalness, also referred to as greenness, is the quality or state of being untouched (Marriam-Webster, 2022).
Have you heard that some fruits and vegetables are best unprocessed? Many foods are nutrient-rich in their raw state. Like being conscious of the foods we eat to care for and nurture our bodies, we must do the same for our hair. One fruit, in particular, is bananas. Bananas are rich in vitamin C (C₆H₈O₆), vitamin B6 (C₈H₄NO₃), and potassium (K).
The benefits of each are:
Vitamin C (C₆H₈O₆) is an antioxidant that provides collagen (protein) and helps prevents hair from aging.
Vitamin B6 (C₈H₄NO₃) is critical in protein metabolism. It ensures that hair cells have access to amino acids which are the building blocks of protein.
Potassium (K) prevents dry scalp, stops hair from thinning, and impedes hair loss.
Two ways that you can use banana in its pure form (actual fruit) for your hair are:
1) Hair mask- crushed up and mixed with oils
2) Hair Conditioner- crushed up and mixed with specific natural ingredients
